Faith Ablaze: The First-ever Rivier Youth Camp 2025

January 31 – February 1, 2025 | Various Schools Unite for a Transformative Experience

The Sisters of the Presentation of Mary-Philippine Province made history with the first-ever Rivier Youth Camp 2025, held from January 31 to February 1, 2025 at St. Peter’s College of Toril, Inc. The two-day event, which gathered young participants from various schools, is a significant part of the year-long 75th Anniversary celebration of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in the Philippines.

Youth delegates from St. Peter’s College of Toril, Holy Cross of Malalag, Holy Cross College of Calinan, Holy Cross of Mintal, Notre Dame Mlang, Holy Cross of Sta. Maria, and Catalunan Grande, along with invited alumni and friends, came together for an enriching experience filled with rising faith, courage, and spiritual growth. The camp was spearheaded by the PM Youth and Vocation Animation Team in collaboration with the WYD 2023 Missionaries, and SPCT Campus Ministry Staff and Youth Associates.

The first day of the camp welcomed participants with an opening program, setting the tone for a meaningful encounter. The attendees experienced a WYD (World Youth Day) journey, engaging in games and get-to-know activities to foster camaraderie. The day deepened spiritually with the Flock’s Time—small group discussions—followed by an uplifting praise and worship session. A highlight of the evening was the solemn Taize prayer with confession, offering a sacred moment of reflection and connection with the Presentation of Mary Sisters.

Participants shared how the first day allowed them to step out of their comfort zones, forming new friendships and engaging in heartfelt discussions about their faith and personal journeys. Many were touched by the confessions and Taize prayer, finding solace and renewal in the serene atmosphere created by the Presentation of Mary Sisters.

The second day began with a dawn rosary and procession, invoking divine blessings for the journey ahead. Participants then engaged in an energetic morning Zumba session, preparing them for an exciting challenge—Breakfast with a Twist, where each flock had to successfully finish the games at different stations to claim their breakfast meal. This creative and fun approach to breakfast built teamwork and problem-solving among the delegates, adding an element of fun to the morning routine.

The day continued with a pilgrim experience where the participants were enriched with the different talks in the mini sessions and the pilgrim walk, symbolizing the youth’s collective faith journey. Participants walked together in prayer, reflecting on their individual spiritual paths and seeking guidance for their futures. The walk culminated by a visit to one of the Pilgrim Churches here in the Archdiocese- the Sto. Rosario Parish. Then, a commissioning Mass followed where participants were sent forth with renewed vigor, encouraged to bring the values and lessons from the camp back to their schools and communities.

As part of the camp’s concluding activities, participants gathered once more where they shared their key takeaways, memorable moments, and personal testimonies. Many expressed gratitude for the opportunity to participate in such a transformative event, with some even noting that the camp deepened their calling to serve the Church through priesthood and religious life. The event ended on a high note with the awarding of certificates of appreciation to recognize the efforts of all who made the event possible, from the organizers to the facilitators, volunteers, and delegates.

The Rivier Youth Camp 2025 marked the beginning of a new tradition, fostering faith, unity, and the missionary spirit among young people. As part of the 75 – year legacy of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary-Philippine Province, this pioneering event set the stage for future gatherings that will continue to inspire and empower the youth in their spiritual journey. The overwhelming positive feedback from the participants underscored the success of the camp, with many already looking forward to the next step. This event not only celebrated the past but also paved the way for a future where young individuals are more deeply engaged in their faith and community. (Trixie Marie L.
