Paglilingkod
God created the church and government of nations to help and guide the people of the world. We are children of the house of the Lord. We are citizens of the countries where we were born. These two bodies are our earthly foundations. The church focuses on religiosity, morality, faith, hope, and love. The government of a nation deals with the relationship between the citizen and the state. The government provides the people’s needs (Police, Health, Education, Infrastructures like roads, bridges, hospitals, sea and airports, etc.)
The church and the state were made for the good of the people. We have religious duties like going to Sunday mass with our family, participating in novenas, fiestas, processions, serving the parish and the GKK. Civic is a Latin word meaning citizen. It is our civic duties to obey. It is our civic duties to obey and follow the laws of the land. If all you do is listen to the law and not do anything, you are a useless cymbal. If you follow the law and do something about it like explaining the bad effects of vote buying, corruption not crossing when the road light is red etc., you are indeed a man of God. Paglilingkod is a proactive word that we do our share to support or help the government and the church. Our presence, visibility and participation in civic duties and church activities means we answer to our call and duty.
