He watches over us
(An excerpt of the homily of the Most Reverend Romulo G. Valles D.D. during during Misa Pasasalamat for the 88th Araw ng Dabaw last March 1, 2025 at the San Pedro Cathedral Parish.)
We have so much blessings in Davao that every opportunity like today, as the introduction that says, we should and we must give thanks to the Lord, a time of thanksgiving, a time that like at this moment we tell ourselves that we are people with a deep sense of God; that even if many times we are being malicious, we are being bad people, we are not conscious, even myself that God is always there. Today, we tell him, we tell God, thank you Lord for being with us always along the way, not a single moment as it were in those 88 years have you abandoned us or have taken your eyes of us off of us, off of Davao.
So today, it is a beautiful day and I’d like to congratulate the city, it has been like this for the past few years. You always request for a Mass and I promise, I will be there, because that’s the best we can do and myself can do, that’s our role in the bigger society to lead you in prayer, humbly before God, to gently remind ourselves that yes, we are a God-fearing people. We have a deep sense of God, we have the gift of faith and so at very important moments of our lives… many landmark moments in life, collectively, today is a very important day and we’d like to tell ourselves, we must thank the Lord and renew our faith that he is there always, watching over us.
