Your Father knows
(An excerpt of the homily of the Most Reverend Romulo G. Valles, D.D. during the Davao Clergy Pilgrimage, March 11, 2025 at the San Pedro Cathedral Parish.)
The ancient custom of doing a pilgrimage is simply telling us and telling ourselves that life is a pilgrimage. In the pilgrimage of life. Them, myself and you, this morning we are simply reminded that our destination is the Lord. The final pilgrimage that we have is to go to the great banquet in heaven.
But also, the assurance that we will survive in a pilgrimage, tungod kay pakan-on ta matag karon ug unya, sa pan sa kinabuhi.
Another assurance that we will reach our destination is the constant presence of the word. A component of pilgrimage is prayer. We always intensely pray, especially in the season of Lent.
Sa atong panaw, ug uban sa atong prayer, the Gospel reading today says: Your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.
