DXGN Spirit FM to Air Talakayan Series anew

The special program series entitled TALAKAYAN will be aired once again over DXGN 89.9 Spirit FM on April 25, May 2 and May 9 at 6:00-8:00 pm.

Talakayan, or group discussion is a special series, initiated by the Ignatian Institute of Religious Educaton Foundation, Inc. (IIREF) of the Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) in coordination with the Citizens Engagement Committee (ACE-COM) and DXGN 89.9 Spirit FM.

The special program initially aired during the last National/Presidential elections in 2022, aimed at discussing issues about the elections and to serve as an educational or a formation for voters in the region.

According to ACE-COM Formation Committee Head, Lunar Fayloga, professor of Atene de Davao University, this year’s Midterm National and Local Elections, TALAKAYAN will focus on the Foundations for the Church’s Political Engagement with some specific topics on the Church’s foundation for Political engagements; roles and functions of Archdiocesan Citizens Engagement Committee; Church and State Relations; Non-Partisan and Partisanship; Shifts in Political Education to Political Values Formation.

Second of 3 Series will discuss about unpacking pressing and relevant issues on the Midterm Elections with specific topics like Descriptions of the General Landscape of national and Local Politics, cultural underpinnings, patronage politics, political dynasties, the socio-political and cultural analysis of ayuda / vote-buying; the power of social media in shaping public/political opinions; critical thinking on misinformation, disinformation and fake news.

On May 9, Talakayan Special Program will discuss about Agents of Hope (Honesty, Orderly, and Peaceful Elections) with special focus on the Comelec’s Roles and Functions. Some specific topics include: different roles of the different sectors of society; forming engaged and prophetic citizenship; most pressing issues and concerns that national and local candidates must address; important role of discernment and informed choice; frequently asked questions on the Comelec (Automated Counting Machines, Precinct Numbers, Lost names, Reporting of election related cases, etc); Agents and Pilgrims of Hope.
