San Pablo Quick Response Team is 2nd Placer!

The Fire Olympics, held at the University of Mindanao in Matina on March 22-23, 2025, saw the San Pablo Quick Response Team proudly take 2nd place! Their success is a result of their hard work and relentless endurance, yet they never lost sight of their guiding motto: “Have a steadfast heart” – Psalm 112:7-8–which in Bisaya translates to “SALIG LANG!”. This jubilee year of hope, with its fair share of stress and challenges, but also countless moments to reflect upon with pride–It was a reminder that through all the struggles, God sustains us and rewards our dedication and hard work.

The team is made up of youth leaders, employees, working students, and full-time students. Each member faced their own unique challenges, especially when it came to managing their time. Coach Brian Demoral, a dedicated volunteer and one of the Arkos, reflected on the team’s journey: “As a coach usa sa mga dakong hagit ka namo ilabi panahon sa pagbansay bansay ang pagka kulangon sa ekipo ug pinansyal, maong dili gyud lalim ang giagian sa grupo kay bisag sa pamasahe ang uban mag lisod pero wala kini nahimong babag apan mas ni dasig ang grupo ug nagtinabangay na ipadayon ug kab-uton ang ginapangandoy na mamahimong kampeon sa maong dula.”

Despite the hardships, Coach Brian found inspiration through this year of hope in the team’s journey, saying: “Para kanako ang paglaum sa grupo nakita namo panahon sa kalisdanan ug pagsulay ky ang kahayag sa paglaum dili makita sa hayag nakinabuhi apan makita kini sa ngitgit na pagsulay sa kinabuhi.”

On top of that, Coach Brian shared a powerful message for the youth: “Akong mensahe sa mga katawhan ilabi sa mga batan-on na dili gyud mamahimong babag ang kakulangon para ma kab-ot nato atong mga ginapangandoy, apan gamita kini na dakong hagit ug mas padasigon pa ang pagpaningkamot ug pasalig sa ginoo, always look at the bright side of life, naay rason ang tanang panghitabo maong ayaw kawala ug paglaum ky ang ginoo maana kanato.” (Sophia Beatrice V.
