Echoes of Prayer: Divine Mercy Celebrated Devout Faith
As a celebration of unmatched faith and honor to the Divine Mercy Sunday, hundreds of Catholics and Divine Mercy devotees gathered to celebrate the Feast of Mercy, last April 27, 2025 at San Pedro Metropolitan Cathedral, Davao City.
The feast began with a solemn mass presided over by Most Rev. Romulo G. Valles, D.D., Archbishop of Davao, where he emphasized the themes of increasing grace, faith, and mercy to share the life and message of the resurrected Jesus.
“The name of God is mercy, God is mercy.” He added in his homily.
Following the mass, a procession featuring the image of the Divine Mercy was held, with the devotees walking through the streets of central Davao and praying the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy.
The procession was a public expression of faith, with participants from parishes in the city joining in unity, carrying candles or rosaries as symbols of their prayers and petitions.
The event highlighted the deep devotion and enduring faith of the city’s Catholic community to the Divine Mercy.
For the devoted families and individuals, the feast served as a reminder of the boundless mercy of God and the call to extend that mercy to others.
The whole celebration concluded with a final blessing, sending the faithful people to live out the message of mercy in their daily lives. (Keona Marisse B. Quiamzon – Secretary, Divine Mercy Youth Philippines – Archdiocese of Davao)
