Bulwark Project Delivers its First Flickers with OLLP

Bulwark Project Foundation, Inc. is a non-government faith-based organization dedicated to uplifting Youth, Family, Community, Environment, and Infrastructure, building a stronger foundation for generations to come. It is passionate in propagating transformation and evangelization to communities through specialized faith formation, training, retreats, counselling and outreach programs.

The OLLP Social Communications Committee (SoCCom) is the pilot parish in the Archdiocese of Davao to receive Bulwark Project’s Flickers Training held this Sunday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Parish Pastoral Building.

Attended by the OLLP Social Communications Committee (SoCCom) from different GKKs in the parish, Flickers aims to empower SoCCom to be “flickers of light” who dispels the darkness in communities who lack evangelization and seek the Gospel message. As the leading Social Communications Committee in the Archdiocese of Davao, it is committed in not only enhancing its best practices, but also advancing its mission in expanding evangelization across various social media platforms, like DXGN 89.9 Spirit FM Radio and the Davao Catholic Herald, the only Catholic radio station and newspaper, respectively, in Mindanao.

Part One is a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Impact Evaluation of the SoCCom Plan of the Archdiocese of Davao. Overview of the FGD was presented by Dr. Cheryl “Cheng” Vilog-Magdaherin, PhD. and the Data Management Team of Bulwark Project Foundation, Inc. Ms. Irish Arlene Cabaluna, MAT and the Deputy Director, Integral Ecology of the foundation facilitated the Evaluation of Managerial and Technical Capacities. On the other hand, Dr. Ma. Iris Melliza, EdD and Chair of Bulwark’s Board of Trustees led the discussion on Evaluation of Financial and Social Marketing Aspects. Both are academically accomplished individuals of the Bulwark Project, introduced comprehensive frameworks in evaluating the capacities of the SoCCom.

Part Two is the Flickers Program on Social Media for Evangelization. Dr. Cheng Vilog-Magdaherin discussed about Social Media while Ms. Nena Quijano, MATRE, Admin and Finance of Bulwark Project Foundation, Inc., thoroughly presented to the group about Social Media and Mental Health Wellness. She topped it off with a discussion about how Social Communications can strategically use social media in expanding evangelization, while combating rising mental health issues caused by excessive use of social media.

Bulwark Project recognized the presence of youth SoCCom with the hope of improving SoCCom’s evangelization capacities in the parish. Dr. Cheng Magdaherin during her introduction also emphasized that Social Communications Committee is the name used by the Archdiocese of Davao referring to a group of 2 or 3 individuals in a Gagmayng Kristohanong Katilingban (GKK) who acts as documenters, reporters, disseminators of information, etc.

OLLP SoCCom expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Bulwark Project Foundation, Inc. for choosing our parish as its pilot project on Flickers. Every word and everything were documented, thanks to the Bulwark Project’s documenters, Joseph Nichols Magdaherin, MAT, Data Management Team and Dr. Manilee Araune, MAT, Project Deputy Director. Looking for another Flickers with Bulwark Project! (Janus Jio R. Olarte & Rowena Baldoza Villaflor, OLLP-SoCCom)
