SYC 2025: SRPYA’s Journey of Faith to Become Bearers of Hope
The Parish Youth Apostolate of San Roque Parish, Malabog, successfully held their Summer Youth Camp on May 24–25, 2025.
This year’s theme, “SRPYA: Pilgrims of Hope,” aims to shape young hearts to become pillars and bearers of hope through journeying with Christ.
Before the event officially opened, Rev. Fr. Cirilo Bermudez reminded the youth of the essence of the activity: “Have fun, participate, and be blessed,” he said. Simple yet powerful words that touched the hearts of the pilgrims, making it their guiding light throughout their SYC journey.
A significant segment of the camp was the plenary talk of Sis. Jeanifer Esurez, PSP Coordinator. “Connect to God through prayer,” she emphasized, so that hope will always arise. She further said that in trusting the Lord, there is hope—a hope that leads to grace. Highlights of the first day of SYC 2025 were the Liturgical Bible Study, which nourished the pilgrims’ hearts through God’s Word, and the evening Praise and Worship.
The second day began at dawn, as the pilgrims knelt humbly, walked in faith with Mother Mary, holding the Holy Rosary in their hands and hope in their hearts.
A Holy Mass, presided over by Rev. Fr. Cirilo Bermudez, Parish Administrator, gathered the pilgrims in grace. “Unta mas buotan namo,” Fr. Lolong lightly said, hoping their journey will impact their families and community by becoming better individuals.
Later that afternoon, Sem. Rumel Delos Reyes shared a glimpse of life in the seminary, followed by Pakighinabi sa Sona, allowing each zone to have a meaningful conversation as one community.
A unity dance led by Zone 7 capped off the SYC and was finally concluded with a unity prayer, thanking the Lord for the meaningful journey they shared as pilgrims.
Truly, an event that is the result of prayer will really bear fruit—a hope that strengthens faith, a faith that shapes young hearts to be bearers of hope.
To God be the glory.
