FAN THE FLAME OF HOPE: Embarking on Pilgrimages in the Jubilee Year

A Jubilee Year is traditionally proclaimed by the Universal Church every 25 years. Hence, the 2025 Jubilee centers on the theme “Pilgrims of Hope”, which invites everyone of us to embark on a spiritual voyage through pilgrimages.

July 20, 2025, on board two buses, the Social Communications Committee (SoCCom) Ministry of 47 members and Finance Committee (FinCom) Ministry of 51 members have joined together to be pilgrims seeking God.

It is with delight to pay homage and attend mass at San Pedro Poveda Parish in Catalunan Pequeño, presided by Rev. Fr. Mervin George A. Maglana, DCD, and to render pilgrimage and to attend mass as well at The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Calinan, by Rev. Fr. Pepe Retorca, DCD. Respectively both ministries continue their journey in different sites to contemplate various personal reflections.

SoCCom Ministry travelled to Toril and venerated another pilgrim church at Sto. Rosario Parish. While FinCom Ministry took a nature contemplation trip to Philippine Eagle Center.

These pilgrimages are calling for every pilgrim to “fan the flame of hope that has been given to us”, as Pope Francis boldly stated. And indeed, we have hoped! And our pilgrimages foster a deeper connection to our faith in God. (Sheenah Bermoy, SoCCom Coordinator | San Miguel Parish Panacan)
