Making a Davao Visit (Part 2 of 2)
The city should post in prominent premises the following notices
1. Maintain Environmental Hygiene
- Smoking, including electronic cigarettes is prohibited in No Smoking areas. Offenders are liable to maximum fine of P1,500
- Keep all areas clean and do not litter. Offenders are liable to a fine P600.
- Keep parks and leisure areas clean. Dispose of rubbish into rubbish bins or recycling bins after eating or drinking in public areas.
- Use a piece of tissue to wrap your spit or chewing gum before discarding it into rubbish bin.
- Cover your nose and mouth with tissue when sneezing or coughing
- Public toilets are available across the city. Please do not urinate or defecate in public places. Offenders are liable to a fine of P600
- Reduce the use of plastic bags to protect the environment. Bring your own reusable bag for shopping.
2. Protect the Environment
- Do not pick from any plant or fruit free.
- Do not feed any animal without permission
- Do not intimidate, chase after or attack any animal
3. Observe Public Order
- Keep a gentle voice in public areas to contribute to a harmonious and pleasant environment
- Avoid using foul language in public places at all times
- Please do not lie down or remove your shoes and socks in public places
- Form an orderly queue while waiting for your turn
- Observe traffic regulations:
- Make use of legal public transportation such as buses or taxis;
- Pay attention to the road. Use road-crossing facilities such as zebra crossings with traffic lights, footbridges and subways;
- Follow traffic light signals;
- Observe instructions given by police officers.
- Always keep an eye out for your children in public places.
- Be considerate to others. Please put on headphones while listening to music or watching videos in public places.
- No carving or graffiti in public areas.
- Anyone who operates an unmanned aircraft (or an aerial camera) should read the requirements of “unmanned aircraft activities” stipulated by the Civil Aviation Authority. Please submit an application to the Civil Aviation Authority if necessary and obey regulations.
- Observe the law and do not attempt to commit any act of crime.
- As the saying goes, “when in Rome, do as the Romans do”. Show respect to local religious and spiritual beliefs, customs and taboos.
- Visitors should only patronize licensed travel agencies and licensed hotels, apartment hotels and guest houses for your own protection.
4. Public transportation etiquette
- Please queue up to board a vehicle
- No pushing, romping, making of loud sounds, spitting or littering in a vehicle
- Offer your seat to the elderly sickly
5. Sightseeing etiquette
- Show respect for historic sites and relics – no graffiti, climbing or touching
- Show respect for public property. Do not vandalise or smudge any public property
- Dress appropriately when visiting temples or churches
- Be patient. Do not jump the queue or jostle each other
- Do not take photographs in No Photography Zones.
- Do not take shove or obstruct others when taking photographs
- Do not force others to take photographs with you
- Flash photographs in designated areas only
- Show respect and courtesy for others
