Faith, Witness, Hope: SLRP Celebrates 40th Parochial Fiesta

“Faith, Witness, Hope” was the theme of the 40th Fiesta Celebration of San Lorenzo Ruiz Parish. The “Panaw-duaw” began last September 8 in the 10 zones. Novena Masses started on September 19 at early dawn, a time that parishioners appreciated for its convenience, requiring little sacrifice for working individuals, and resulting in positive feedback.

A three-day series of activities took place in the Parish, including the LGU night, which invited three barangays: Bago Aplaya, Talomo Proper, and Bago Gallera. They showcased their constituents’ talents, ending fabulously. Second was the Family Night, also known as Gabas Night, where families were invited for a fellowship with a live band that entertained the crowd jubilantly, resulting in much dancing and singing.

September 27 at 3:00 AM began with the procession of the image of Saint Lorenzo Ruiz and the Blessed Mother Mary, followed by the GKK patron images, ending at the Parish for the final Novena Mass. Right after the mass, at 6:00 AM, was the Zumba Fiesta for a cause for the Social Communications Ministry. Many Zumba enthusiasts flocked to sweatout and win exciting prizes, making it an energetic and amazing day.

During the night was the KASADRA, or Kanta Sayaw Drama contest, perfectly participated in by the 10 zones. Although it started late due to heavy rainfall, it eventually continued and successfully ended, showcasing talents in dancing, singing, and acting, portraying the life of Saint Lorenzo Ruiz.

On Fiesta Day, during the Pontifical Mass presided over by the Most Rev. Romulo Valles, D.D., he delivered an inspiring homily urging everyone to keep the faith and choose to follow God. He reminded the parishioners that while the Parish is neither new nor very old, they should reflect on the depth of their faith today and whether their vision remains clear amidst life’s challenges. Like Saint Lorenzo Ruiz, who offered his life to God and vowed that even if he had a thousand lives, he would offer them all to God, the Archbishop encouraged the faithful to remain steadfast in their devotion.

The Mass was concelebrated by Fr. Anthony “Dondon” Silvosa, parish priest, Fr. Jerick Asdang, resident priest, Fr. Ranebe Magallanes and Fr. Randy Diamante.

After the Holy Mass, a fellowship gathering of the 10 zones took place, where food was shared and Pastils were given to parishioners from outside the parish.

Everyone went home full and happy, their hearts filled with joy and gladness. (Marisa Yee | SLRP SoCCom)
