St. Francis of Assisi Parish La Verna turns 10

The St. Francis of Assisi Parish, La Verna recently celebrated its 10th Parochial Fiesta last September 17, 2025.

The celebration of the Stigmatization of St. Francis of Assisi was focused on this year’s theme, “San Francisco de Asis, Kauban sa Panaw nga Malaumon.”

The Fiesta activities started with the 9-day Fiesta Novena Mass at the Parish and 9-night Panaw-Duaw in selected GKKs within the Parish.

Added to the fruitful celebration was the Sacrament of Confirmation (130 children), Medical Mission (373 beneficiaries), Zumba activity (73 participants) and Bayanihan.

The highlight on Fiesta Day was the Pontifical Mass officiated by Most Rev. Romulo G. Valles, D.D., Archbishop of Davao. It was also the Installation of the new Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel “Bong” Gonzaga. The fellowship lunch and program and dance festival followed after the Mass. The blessing of pets and plants with greeting drums added color to the happy occasion.

Fr. Bong Gonzaga expressed his gratitude to all ministries (Formation, Worship, Service), GKKs especially Karancho, Knights of Columbus, Fraternal Order of Eagles (Davao Sur Fil-Chinese Eagles Club), Parish Pastoral Council, Finance, Ways and Means, Homeowners Association (Phase 1-3), Barangays Angliongto/Communal/Cabantian, Task Force Davao, PNP, Benefactors and Friends. He further said, “Padayon ta sa pagpanaw isip simbahan nga Malaumon”. (Lea Bernaldez)
