A Season of Hope and Preparation
The Season of Advent has begun, marking the start of a new liturgical year and inviting the faithful to prepare their hearts for the coming of Jesus Christ. In the Archdiocese of Davao, this season carries special meaning as we continue to walk through the Jubilee Year of Hope, drawing strength from the promise that Christ brings light into every darkness.
Parishes across the archdiocese have renewed the tradition of lighting the first candle of the Advent wreath, a tradition that symbolizes growing hope as Christmas draws near. Archbishop Romulo G. Valles D.D. has also encouraged every family to place an Advent wreath in their own homes as a simple yet meaningful reminder to pray together and to welcome the Lord with ready hearts.
Advent recollections and the Sacrament of Confession are being offered throughout the archdiocese to help the faithful reflect, return to God’s mercy, and begin anew. These moments of prayer and renewal prepare us not only for the celebration of Christmas but also for a deeper encounter with Christ who comes to heal and strengthen his people.
As we continue this season of waiting and hope, may every home in the Archdiocese of Davao become a place of light, faith, and joyful expectation for the birth of Jesus Christ.
