Archbishop Thibault Media Awards 2026 In The Works

The heads and members of the steering committee of the Archbishop Thibault Media Awards (ATMA) are preparing for the next awarding ceremony for outstanding works of journalists in Davao.

Formerly known as the Davao Catholic Mass Media Awards, this prestigious award giving body was renamed to Archbishop Thibault Media Awards in 2025 in honor of the first prelate and archbishop of the local church, Archbishop Joseph Clovis Thibault, PME as the Archdiocese of Davao celebrated its 75th Anniversary.

After several years of hiatus, the 4th DCMMA in 2025 presented 13 awards to journalists including the highest category, the Archbishop Thibault Special Award, won by Joel Escovilla of Mindanao Times for his article, ECO-BRICKS: Davao City’s Community-led solution to address plastic marine pollution.”

During the latest Steering Committee meeting, the Awards Committee represented by Mr. Lunar Fayloga of the Ateneo de Davao University interpolated on the different categories that were adapted in the ATMA 2025 to be adapted for the ATMA 2026. He defined each of the other 12 categories that would include other themes such as the Indigenous Peoples welfare, Violence on Women and Children, students’ contributions and parish social communications.

It was clarified further that social media productions or posts by the youths or Parish Soccoms may be given special awards this year.

More details will be released on ATMA 2026 on the next scheduled meeting in February, 2026.
