A Milestone of Faith: First Holy Communion of 148 Children at San Francisco de Asis Parish

San Francisco de Asis Parish joyfully celebrated the milestone of First Holy Communion of 148 children last January 17, 2026, at 1:00 in the afternoon, marking a significant milestone in the faith journey of the parish’s young faithful.

The Holy Mass was presided by Rev. Fr. Euricho Raphael A. Maralit, OSJ, Parochial Vicar of the parish. In his homily, Fr. Maralit emphasized the importance of the Holy Eucharist as the source and summit of Christian life.

He reminded the congregation that through the reception of the Eucharist, Catholics are nourished spiritually by the Body and Blood of Christ. He further highlighted that the children who received Holy Communion for the first time have already fulfilled one of the essential sacraments of the Catholic faith, calling them to continue growing in love and commitment to God.

This celebration marked the first batch of First Communicants, composed of 92 children from Brgy. Tagakpan and 56 from Brgy. Subasta, with a total of 148 communicants.

The successful preparation and planning of the Sacrament of First Holy Communion were spearheaded by the Pangulo sa Panudlo (PSP), commonly known as the catechists, under the dedicated leadership of Mrs. Jocelyn M. Ayoc. Their tireless efforts in catechesis and formation ensured that the children were well-prepared to receive the sacrament with faith and reverence.

The parish has scheduled three batches of First Holy Communion, to be celebrated on three consecutive Saturdays, allowing more children to meaningfully experience this sacred moment.

As the parish community rejoices with the young communicants and their families, San Francisco de Asis Parish continues to give thanks for the gift of faith and prays that these children may always treasure the Eucharist as the center of their Christian life.
