God’s Word Source Of Life: 4th Archdiocesan Youth Bible Symposium

Last January 31, 2026, the Archdiocesan Bible Apostolate of Davao (ABAD) successfully conducted the 4th Archdiocesan Youth Bible Symposium, was held at the Regional Major Seminary of Mindanao in Catalunan Grande. It is a gathering thoughtfully planned during the celebration of the National Bible Month to nurture the spiritual, moral, and communal life of the participants through a full day of faith-filled activities. Anchored on the belief that a deeper relationship with God strengthens one’s spiritual journey, the event aimed to guide everyone toward a more meaningful and lived experience of faith. From the very start, participants were encouraged to grow not only in knowledge of God but also in love, integrity, unity, and compassion for one another, fostering a community grounded in mutual respect and service.

The day began with a warm welcome during the arrival and registration, setting a tone of openness and fellowship. This was followed by the Bible Enthronement, a symbolic reminder of God’s central place in the lives of the participants. Through engaging animations and roll calls, the atmosphere became lively and inclusive, helping everyone feel at ease and connected. The opening remarks and presentation of objectives clearly laid out the purpose and flow of the program, ensuring that participants understood the spiritual direction of the day.

As the program progressed, house rules and the introduction of the resource speaker prepared everyone for a meaningful exchange of ideas and reflections. The plenary talk given by Rev. Fr. Junel Bustamante, Davao Archdiocesan Youth Coordinating Apostolate (DAYCA) Director provided valuable insights that deepened understanding of faith and daily Christian living, while the Conversation in the Spirit allowed participants to reflect, share, and listen with openness and reverence. A response from the ABAD Director Rev. Fr. Ritsche Gamaya further reinforced the message of commitment to spiritual growth and service.

The celebration of the Holy Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Voltaire Dimol, Parish Priest of San Isidro Labrador, Catalunan Grande became the heart of the gathering, offering a sacred moment of thanksgiving, praise, and intimate communion with God. After sharing a meal together, the afternoon sessions revived the energy of the participants through animation and friendly competition in the Bible Quiz Bee, strengthening both knowledge of Scripture and camaraderie. The Praise and Worship segment created a space for joyful gratitude and heartfelt prayer, allowing everyone to express their faith through song and reflection.

The day concluded with an awarding ceremony, closing remarks, and a final prayer, affirming the shared experiences and lessons gained throughout the event. As participants departed for home, they carried with them not only memories of the activities but also a renewed spirit of faith, gratitude, and unity, inspired to live out God’s love in their daily lives.
