Pro Life Sunday
The Church celebrates February as Pro Life Month for a special reason. Abortion created a worldwide uproar which divided families 40 years ago. It is still a serious issue though the opposing parties have reduced their tenacity. This is because from the 1980’s to the 2020’s, more worldwide problems were identified and given more attention like climate change, gender changes, human trafficking, drugs and in 2024 artificial intelligence. It is hard to decide which issue should be resolved first because all have the same deep impact on humanity, morality and sanity. The basics on Pro Life are:
First, we are God’s creation. No one say the evil one created him. Second, as God’s creation, we are made to do good, not to do bad. Third, we Catholics believe that during conception the fetus is already a human being. Fourth, we believe that abortion is immoral. Any act to kill or harm human life is bad. The one who is to be killed through abortion has no chance to say something affecting his own life.
Pro abortionists say only the woman have the right to decide whether to abort because it is her life and body. The baby in the womb has as much right as the mother to decide on his fate. We need wider and deeper dialogues about making the woman understand that ligation, vasectomy, pills, condoms and I.U.Ds are immoral. It is bad to rely on man made solutions to solve the problems of population explosion and poverty. Some say to rely on God’s help, kindness mercy is self-deceiving. Our reply: Go away, Evil one.
