SoCCom Reorientation Seminar and General Assembly Held at San Francisco de Asis Parish
The Social Communications Committee (SoCCom) of San Francisco de Asis Parish successfully conducted its Reorientation Seminar and General Assembly last Sunday, January 25, 2026. The activity was participated in by the Gagmay’ng Kristohanong Katilingban (GKK) secretaries of the parish, who play a vital role in parish communication and documentation.
Out of the 30 GKK secretaries of the parish, 19 were able to attend the reorientation, demonstrating their commitment to strengthening the communication structures and data management of the parish. The seminar was headed by the Parish SoCCom Coordinator, Mr. Jeffren P. Miguel, who led the discussions and guided the participants throughout the activity.
The gathering was also graced by the presence of the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Mario B. Holmina, OSJ, who expressed his strong support for the Social Communications Committee and its mission. In his message, Fr. Holmina emphasized the crucial role of GKK secretaries, particularly in the proper and timely release of the Information Data Sheet (IDS) and in the safekeeping and updating of the GKK Registry. He highlighted that accurate and well-maintained records are essential in determining the total number of Catholic faithful in the parish, which in turn supports effective pastoral planning and decision-making.
During the reorientation, Mr. Miguel provided an in-depth discussion of the Yellow Book of the Archdiocese of Davao, also known as the GKK Norms and Guidelines Handbook. Special attention was given to Article 16, which clearly defines the roles and responsibilities of the Social Communications Committee. The session aimed to ensure that all GKK secretaries have a common understanding of their functions, accountability, and the standards expected of them as frontliners in parish communication.
The Reorientation Seminar and General Assembly served as an important venue for renewal, clarification, and unity among the GKK secretaries and the SoCCom. It reaffirmed the parish’s commitment to organized, transparent, and mission-oriented social communications in the service of the Church and the wider community of San Francisco de Asis Parish.
