San Francisco de Asis Parish Holds Open Lenten Recollection for the Faithful of Tagakpan

Members of the parish community gathered in a spirit of prayer and reflection as San Francisco de Asis Parish conducted its Lenten Recollection on March 8, 2026, at 1:00 PM, drawing around 300 participants from the parish community.

The recollection was open to all parishioners and was attended by members of the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC), Gagmay’ng Kristohanong Katilingban (GKK) leaders, and various Catholic organizations and ministries, as well as other members of the faithful who wished to take part in a meaningful spiritual preparation during the Lenten season.

The recollection was facilitated by Vicky Estoque-Anghag, who currently serves as the Basic Ecclesial Communities (BEC) Coordinator of the Archdiocese of Davao. In her reflection, she underscored the importance of prayer, conversion, and active participation in the life of the Church, particularly through the strengthening of the Basic Ecclesial Communities, which serve as the grassroots expression of the Church’s mission.

Participants were given time for prayer, personal reflection, and communal listening, allowing them to pause from the demands of daily life and focus on their relationship with God as the Church journeys through the Lenten season.

Rev. Fr. Mario B. Holmina, OSJ, the parish priest, expressed his gratitude to all who attended the recollection, especially to the facilitator for sharing her time and insights with the parish community. He emphasized the importance of active engagement in both parish and archdiocesan activities, noting that the strong participation of the faithful during the recollection reflects the community’s vibrant faith life.

Fr. Holmina also highlighted that the gathering is a concrete manifestation of synodality, where the faithful come together to pray, listen, and walk as one Church. He encouraged parishioners to continue participating in spiritual activities and parish programs as a way of strengthening their faith and communion with the wider Church.

The Lenten recollection served as a meaningful opportunity for the faithful of San Francisco de Asis Parish to deepen their spiritual journey and renew their commitment to live out the Gospel in their families and communities during this sacred season. (Jeffren Miguel | Photos: Princess Singco)
