HCDC @75: Renewed Vision, Mission, and Core Values

The Holy Cross of Davao College upholds its mission as a pillar of education and a catalyst of social transformation as it revealed its renewed Vision, Mission, and Core Values, during the institution’s launching of the 75th Founding Anniversary, marking the start of its year-long celebration of faith, excellence, and mission on April 7, 2026, with this year’s theme: “Ex Fide Ad Veritatem: 75 Years of Grace and Onwards: A Blazing Mission”.

The unveiling was part of its 75th Diamond Jubilee Launching, commemorating the institution’s legacy, renewing its identity as a Catholic institution, and reaffirming its commitment to forming individuals carrying out love, with strong faith, and truth in action and principle since its establishment in 1951, which started as a faith entrusted to the Religious of the Virgin Mary (RVM) Sisters, carried forward by the PME Fathers, and sustained through the guidance of the Archdiocese of Davao.

Before the launch, a Holy Mass was also offered and was presided over by Rev. Fr. Cirilo Bermudez, HCDC Chaplain, and concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Calumpong, HCDC Vice President for Finance, and Rev. Fr. Dexter Veloso, Parish Priest of Our Lady of Fatima Parish and HCDC BA Philosophy professor.

Most Rev. Romulo G. Valles, D.D., Archbishop of Davao and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of HCDC, also graced the said celebration.

HCDC President Bro. Noelvic H. Deloria, SC, led the celebration by emphasizing that the commemoration is centered on faith, particularly the celebration of Easter, which reminds the community that amid life’s difficulties, darkness, and death, there remains the promise of renewal, light, progress, and new life.

“We gather tonight in the heart of our faith: The Celebration of Easter, a season that reminds us that after sacrifice comes renewal, after darkness comes light, and after death comes life,” Bro. Deloria said.

Rooted in its beginnings 75 years ago, the institution has faced challenges, uncertainty, and limitations. Yet, like the Resurrection, Bro. Deloria mirrored the story of Christ to the story of the HCDC community, a journey of faith, perseverance, and renewal over time.

“They did not begin in certainty; they began with a mission: a mission to form minds, shape hearts, and to inspire lives. Through the years, that mission was tested. There were moments of challenge, limitation, and uncertainty. But like the resurrection, we now celebrate this institution. This institution did not remain in those moments; it endured, grew, and it grows. What we see today is not simply the passage of time; it is the fruit of sacrifice, of leadership, and of a community that remains faithful to its calling,” the president elaborated.

With the Resurrection as a source of joy, Bro. Deloria urged the community to see it as a guide for responding to challenges and fostering growth, as reflected in how the institution and its people educate, live, and serve, underscoring that faith, while embraced and celebrated, must also be lived deeply.

“Resurrection is not only something we celebrate, but it is also something we are called to live. As a community, we are called to rise in how we teach – with dedication; in how we live with humility, and in how we nurture with compassion,” Bro. Deloria highlighted.

The members of the President’s Council, Vice President for Finance Rev. Fr. Emmanuel G. Calumpong, Vice President for Operations Mr. Rommel F. Momo, and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Teresa P. Fabiania, have also delivered a message on the importance of forming individuals through a shared responsibility with the entire community.

Following Bro. Deloria’s Speech, the Supreme Student Government (SSG) President Mr. Jiovanni Momo, together with the presidents of student organizations from the seven schools and colleges, took part in the event expressing their commitment to uphold and embody the identity and mission of the Holy Cross of Davao College as they proclaimed the renewed direction that will guide the institution and its community in the year ahead.
