99th BEC Chapel on BEC Sunday Celebration
TORIL, DAVAO CITY — The Sto. Rosario Parish continues to mark significant growth as the 99th BEC chapel is set to be officially announced during the BEC Sunday Celebration on May 31, 2026, coinciding with the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity.
The San Vicente Ferrer Chapel, located in Purok 11, Catigan, was formally established on May 23, 2026, with its First Eucharistic Celebration held at 3:30 in the afternoon. The chapel stands on a 200-square-meter lot generously donated by Mr. and Mrs. Editha Amego and Family, whose generosity made possible this pastoral milestone for Catholic families in the area.
Prior to its establishment, the community underwent a series of formation and orientation seminars to deepen their understanding of BEC spirituality and mission. These preparations helped form the faithful into an organized chapel community ready for ecclesial recognition.
Parish representatives, BEC servant Leaders, and members of the new BEC gathered in prayer and thanksgiving during the inaugural Eucharistic Celebration, as the community was entrusted to the patronage of San Vicente Ferrer. Due to the distance of the area from the parish center, the chapel has been placed under KSD Group 2, allowing designated Pangulo Sa Liturhiya (PSLs) to distribute Holy Communion during the Kasaulogan sa Adlaw’ng Domingo (KSD). This arrangement ensures continued access to Sunday worship and pastoral care within the community.
The parish will formally highlight and announce the establishment of this 99th BEC chapel during the upcoming BEC Sunday celebration at Sto. Rosario Parish grounds, bringing together representatives from different BECs in thanksgiving and solidarity. The celebration will also coincide with Trinity Sunday, underscoring the Church’s call to communion, participation, and mission within the life of the BECs.
This year’s theme, “BECs as Locus of Synodality: Hope to Our Wounded World,” highlights the role of Basic Ecclesial Communities as living expressions of synodal Church life at the grassroots level.
With the addition of the San Vicente Ferrer Chapel, the parish now reaches 99 established BEC chapels, continuing its mission of bringing the Church closer to families and strengthening faith communities across the parish. (Jesse Hipolito)
