BECs as Locus of Synodality: Hope to Our Wounded World
As we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, we also mark BEC Sunday with the theme from the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines: “BECs as Locus of Synodality: Hope to Our Wounded World.”
The Trinity reveals God as perfect communion — Father, Son, and Spirit united in love. The Church is called to mirror this communion through faith, participation, and mission. This is synodality: walking together as one people of God.
Our Basic Ecclesial Communities bring this vision to life. Families gather to pray, reflect on Scripture, and care for one another — especially the poor and forgotten. In an age of digital isolation, BECs offer face-to-face communion and genuine human encounter, embodying the compassion Pope Leo XIV calls for in Magnifica Humanitas.
As the Church journeys forward in synodality, may our BECs remain places where Christ is encountered, every voice is heard in assembly, and no one is left behind.
