Run for Hope: Balay Pasilungan Marks 37 Years of Caring for Children

The Foundation of Balay Pasilungan marked its 37th Foundation Anniversary through “Run for Hope 2026,” a charity fun run held on May 9 at Rancho Palos Verdes Sports and Country Club in Davao City.

Founded by the Society of Mary (Marist Fathers), Balay Pasilungan has spent nearly four decades serving children in need of special protection. Guided by the Marist spirit of compassion and presence, the institution provides temporary shelter, psychosocial care, education, and spiritual formation for children who have experienced abuse, neglect, and other difficult circumstances.

The event gathered families, volunteers, civic partners, and advocates in a shared expression of solidarity with vulnerable children. Participants joined various categories, including 1K, 3K, and 5K runs, as well as Family Run and Dog-Friendly Run events.

According to Fr. Gil Casio, S.M., the executive director of Balay Pasilungan, the activity was more than a fundraising initiative.

“Run for Hope reminds us that caring for children is a shared mission. Every step taken during the event became a sign of hope, compassion, and commitment to the dignity of every child.”

The celebration concluded with a community breakfast and anniversary program centered on the foundation’s enduring message: “Love is Never Wasted.” (Leonel Bueno, RSW)
