Bread Festival: A Tradition of Faith, Gratitude and Communion
As the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi), the Parish Community of Our Lady of the Assumption continues its cherished tradition of the Bread Festival, a meaningful expression of faith centered on the Holy Eucharist, the source and summit of the Christian life.
For many years, this tradition has brought together parishioners, families, and GKK communities in a spirit of thanksgiving and fellowship. More than a festive gathering, the Bread Festival serves as a reminder of Christ, the Bread of Life, who nourishes His people through His Body and Blood. Inspired by the miracle of God’s abundant love, the faithful share bread as a symbol of unity, generosity, and communion. Celebrated in conjunction with the Feast of Corpus Christi, the festival highlights the parish’s deep devotion to the Blessed Sacrament and its commitment to keeping the Eucharist at the center of community life. It provides the faithful with an opportunity not only to celebrate but also to reflect on the call to become living witnesses of Christ’s love through acts of charity, service, and solidarity.
As this beloved parish tradition continues from one generation to the next, the Bread Festival remains a visible expression of a faith community gathered around the table of the Lord—grateful for His presence in the Eucharist and committed to sharing His love with others.
In celebrating Corpus Christi and the Bread Festival, the Parish of Our Lady of the Assumption joyfully proclaims that Christ remains the Bread of Life, sustaining His people and drawing them into deeper communion with God and with one another.
