He wants to be known by Us

(Excerpt from the Homily of Most Rev. Romulo G. Valles, D.D., during the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity last May 31, 2026 at San Pedro Cathedral.)

Brothers and sisters, as I’ve said at the start of the Mass, the Sunday after Pentecost is titled Sunday, keeping in mind being conscious, proclaiming it the Solemnity of the Blessed Trinity. Aha, God, our mighty God, we have to know as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit na complete, because last Sunday was descending of the Third Person diba, Pentecost last Sunday. Unya later gi-refine into clearer yet still difficult terms like Three Persons, One God, Divine Nature. So, later na nakarealize to say those terms, who are still very difficult.

So, today we have this, ingon sa Catechism of the Catholic Church, the central mystery, dili Resurrection, dili Christmas. The central mystery because today we are told, we behold who God is. What I realized early on as a priest, and I read mismo sa mga experts nga it is the dreaded Sunday sa mga preachers, daghang mahadlok ani, abi nako ako ra ang nahadlok, nga bulok ko, tanan man diay mi bulok kay difficult to explain. But I should never spring, dili ko moatras, dili ko mahadlok kay dili nako gets one-time. But we continue to touch, to grasp, this beautiful mystery.

I’ll get one approach from the Opening Prayer: God our Father, who by sending Your Son into the world, the Word of Truth, Word made flesh si Jesus and the Spirit of Sanctification, karaan ni nga prayer ha but here are the key ideas, made known to the human race the wondrous mystery. Grant us we pray, that in professing the true faith, we may acknowledge the trinity of eternal glory.

This one God, three Divine Persons said the truth, makabuak sa atong ulo, makaopaw, but ang nature is He wants to be known, revelation, He wants to be known by us. So, always when we say Blessed Trinity lisod pa baya kaayo but remember God wants us to know Him, so that may benefit nato, kita nag tuyo sa Holy Trinity, to reveal, to make known for us.

Today important question unsa may maato? What can we do get from today? Because Himself wants to be known by us, reveal to us. Next, by that item, He wants to be known, to be seen close, kita to be close to Him. Now, that means also communicating, to be known is to communicate, imong ipadayag, ipakita Himself, and to be known.
