HFP Baliok Celebrated World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly in a Spirit of Synodality

A day of prayer, and gratitude highlights the vital role of grandparents and the elderly in the Church’s journey of faith.

The Holy Family Parish joyfully joined the universal Catholic Church in celebrating the World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly, bringing together families, parishioners, and senior members of the community.

The celebration began with the 5:30 a.m. Sunday Holy Mass and continued throughout the day with successive Eucharistic celebrations, welcoming parishioners to participate in honoring grandparents and elderly faithful. The observance concluded with the 5:00 p.m. Holy Mass, where the congregation offered a special prayer intention for all grandparents and elderly parishioners, asking God to bless them with good health, renewed strength, and the peace that comes from His abiding presence.

Grandparents and the elderly were recognized not only for their years of sacrifice and service but also as faithful custodians of Christian values. Through their prayers, life experiences, and enduring witness, they continue to inspire younger generations to deepen their relationship with Christ and remain steadfast in living the Gospel.

Adding warmth and joy to the celebration, the Commission on Family and Life organized a commemorative photo booth and giving of flowers at the parish lobby. Families, grandparents, and elderly parishioners gathered to capture memorable photographs together, creating lasting keepsakes that celebrated the gift of family and strengthened intergenerational bonds. The activity transformed the parish lobby into a welcoming space where smiles, laughter, and heartfelt conversations reflected the unity of the parish community.

The photo booth became more than a place for pictures—it became a symbol of the Church’s mission to foster communion, where every generation is seen and valued. As families posed together, they bore witness to the enduring legacy of faith handed down from one generation to the next.

The celebration echoed the Church’s invitation to accompany older persons with love, respect, and gratitude, recognizing that they are not merely recipients of pastoral care but active participants in the Church’s life and mission. Their presence reminds the faithful that wisdom, hope, and faith are treasures to be shared as the People of God continue their pilgrimage together.

Through prayer, fellowship, and joyful encounters, Holy Family Parish affirmed that the journey of faith is one shared by all generations. United in the Eucharist and inspired by the witness of grandparents and the elderly, the parish community renewed its commitment to walk together as one family in Christ, where no one is forgotten and everyone has a place in God’s loving.
