Mati Carmelite Mother Superior, After 50 Years of Faithful Service, Enters to Eternal Rest
Mother Ma. Lourdes Contojos, Mother Superior of the Carmelite Monastery in Mati City, received a final farewell during a Solemn Burial Rite, presided over by Most Reverend Abel C. Apigo, D.D., Bishop of Mati, together with the diocesan and religious priests.
For 50 years, the late Mother Superior devoted her life to prayer, faithful service, and humble leadership within the Carmelite Community. Her steadfast commitment to religious vocation has impacted the life of numerous lay faithful, remembering her as a woman of faith and deep devotion to God and the Church.
In Bishop Apigo’s homily, he shared her peaceful passing, noting that Mother Ma. Contojos entered eternal rest after receiving the Holy Communion. This grace-filled culmination of her life is a profound testament to her lifelong devotion to the Eucharist.
Following the Mass, her remains were solemnly laid to rest at Carmelite Monastery Cemetery, surrounded by the community she lovingly served for 5 decades.
May we continue to unite in prayer for her soul, entrusting Mother Ma. Lourdes to the promise of eternal life. (April Joy Toloy)
