Walking with Faith: 64th Parochial Fiesta of Saint James the Apostle Parish
With hearts united in prayer and thanksgiving, the faithful of St. James the Apostle Parish celebrated its 64th Parochial Fiesta on July 25, 2026, embracing this year’s theme, “Viva Santiago: Pagtuo nga buhi sa buhat, sa pagkabalaan nagalakat.” The celebration became a powerful witness that genuine faith is not only found through words but is lived daily through acts of love, service, and holiness.
The nine-day novena spiritually prepared parishioners for the feast as different invited priests reflected on God’s call to deepen one’s relationship with Him. Throughout the celebrations, the faithful were reminded to generously offer their 3 T’s. Time, talent, and treasure, remain open to God’s will, proclaim His Word through their lives, and recognize that true salvation comes from faithfully following His will rather than one’s status in life. These reflections encouraged everyone to live their faith beyond the walls of the church.
The fiesta celebration reached the most important part with the Pontifical Mass presided over by Most Rev. Romulo G. Valles, D.D., Archbishop of Davao, together with Rev. Fr. Edsel J. Paloma, DCD, parish priest, and the concelebrating diocesan and religious clergy. The Eucharistic celebration gathered parishioners, devotees, and visitors in a joyful expression of gratitude for God’s countless blessings given upon the parish throughout its 64 years.
Beyond the liturgical celebrations, the fiesta strengthened the spirit of togetherness among parishioners through various activities that fostered fellowship, generosity, and active participation. Throughout the celebration, huge smiles and happiness were seen in the faces of the faithful. Families, youth, church organizations, and volunteers worked hand in hand, reflecting the parish’s commitment to building a vibrant and united Christian community centered on Christ.
As the celebration concluded, the faithful carried home not only joyful memories but also a renewed commitment to live the Gospel each day. The 64th Parochial Fiesta of St. James the Apostle Parish served as a reminder that the legacy of St. James continues to inspire believers to journey together in faith, walk the path of holiness, and transform their faith into concrete acts of love and service for others.
