Living Waters

From Genesis, we learn that God is gracious, but we often choose to reject His plan for our happiness. Marred by sin, even nature has been affected. His creation is intended to benefit everyone; however, greed has exploited it, leaving destruction along its path. In Ezekiel’s vision of the Temple – who is Jesus Christ in the New Testament – living water flows out, healing and nourishing God’s creation.

We have been endowed with freedom, intellect, and will to manage God’s creation. Each person has gifts to cultivate and offer for the good of others. We depend on our Creator, and within this relationship, we flourish and fulfill our task according to His plan.

The calling is not abstract. It begins at home. When we buy local produce, we help our farmers thrive and keep our own land fruitful. It is good to remember those in the countryside who are often neglected. Moreover, when we care for our own country, we honor the trust God placed in us as stewards. With El Niño on the horizon, this stewardship becomes urgent. We must help each other to prepare ourselves and our land.

Let us remember to pray for discernment in order for us to know the direction God wants us to take. As St. Josemaría said, “Remember… many depend on whether or not we do what God wills.” When we do our work well, that’s God’s glory!
