Sto. Rosario Parish Promotes Cybersafety Through Children’s Book Gift
TORIL, DAVAO CITY — Sto. Rosario Parish, Toril distributed copies of The Kingdom of Privacy: Cybersafety Awareness for Kids to members of the St. Therese of the Child Jesus Children’s Choir on September 20, 2026, as an early Christmas gift.
The initiative reflects the Parish’s concern for the holistic formation of children—not only in faith and values, but also in helping them become responsible and safe users of technology.
Equipping Children for the Digital World
Authored by cybersecurity advocate and ScamWatch Pilipinas co-founder Art Samaniego, The Kingdom of Privacy introduces children to practical lessons on protecting personal information, keeping passwords private, recognizing scams and fake profiles, dealing with cyberbullying, and being cautious about online interactions and harmful content.
The book also promotes kindness, honesty, respect, and responsibility—values that children are called to practice both offline and online.
For Sto. Rosario Parish, cybersafety is part of caring for children in the realities they face today. With smartphones, social media, online games, and other digital platforms becoming part of children’s daily lives, families, schools, and parishes share the responsibility of helping them navigate the digital world safely.
Sharing the Books with Local Schools
With additional copies still available, Sto. Rosario Parish plans to donate copies of the book to the libraries of elementary schools located within the territorial jurisdiction of the Parish.
Since the number of donated copies will be limited, teachers are encouraged to use the books directly as classroom teaching resources, allowing children to learn together about cybersafety, privacy, and responsible digital behavior.
The Parish hopes that the books will not simply remain on library shelves, but will be actively used and shared among pupils as part of their education and formation.
A Resource for Other Communities
The book may also be used by parishes, schools, Catholic organizations, youth ministries, BECs/GKKs, and families as a resource for children’s formation and cybersafety awareness.
According to author Art Samaniego, each copy is priced at ₱65.00, which covers only the printing cost of the book. The amount is not intended to generate profit. Delivery charges, when applicable, are separate.
Interested communities may coordinate directly with the author for copies.
The initiative may have started with the children of the St. Therese Children’s Choir, but its message is meant to reach more children and communities.
Protecting our children online is not only about technology. It is a shared responsibility—and an expression of care and love for the next generation. (Jesse Hipolito)
