The faithful of the Divine Mercy Parish in Sinawilan, Digos City, Davao del Sur joyfully gathered for a historic triple celebration on October 5, 2026. The milestone event commemorated the Feast of Saint Faustina Kowalska the Apostle of Divine Mercy, the Solemn Dedication of the new parish church, and the formal declaration of the parish as a Diocesan Shrine.
Most Rev. Guillermo D. Afable, DD, Bishop of the Diocese of Digos, alongside the clergy of the diocese, led the Solemn Holy Mass anchored on the theme: “St. Faustina, An Example of the New Evangelization, Lived and Preached the Divine Mercy.” During the Eucharistic Celebration, Rev. Fr. Jay Hector Lituañas, AA was also formally appointed and recognized as the Rector of the newly designated Diocesan Shrine of the Divine Mercy.
The celebration centered on recognizing God’s infinite mercy and love through the exemplar life of St. Faustina, while dedicating the new house of worship for prayer, holy sacrifice, and service to the people of God. Its establishment as a Diocesan Shrine stands as a visible sign of trust and devotion to the Divine Mercy within the entire diocese.
